Clear a Comfortable Path to Your New Smile

With Angel Aligners and Clear Aligners from Dr. McClaran, teens, adults, and children can reach a straight smile without anyone noticing the treatment!

All About Clear Aligners

If you’re not sure that braces are the best option for your lifestyle and you’re looking for something more discreet and versatile, we’re proud to offer Angel Aligners and clear aligners.

These clear aligners are virtually invisible to everyone but the wearer, making them a great option for those looking for more discreet treatment. This treatment is popular at McClaran Orthodontics because the aligners are virtually invisible and easily removed, so you can eat whatever you like.

Your treatment plan will begin with a consultation. Dr. McClaran will examine your mouth and jaw to assess your smile needs. We believe our patients need all of the details to make an educated decision, so we’ll go over your options and discuss what aligner treatment would look like for you.

If clear aligners are right for you, we’ll use a 3D imaging system to take a picture that captures every groove of every tooth. With this picture, Dr. McClaran can create an effective treatment plan that tends to your specific needs.

We’ll also show you a projection of what your dream smile will look like once your clear aligner treatment is complete.

We then take the image and have the aligners printed in a thermoplastic material called SmartTrack designed for your comfort. The aligners should fit snugly over your teeth, and every week until the end of treatment, you’ll receive a new set of aligners that have been slightly adjusted to move your teeth closer to your desired goal.

To make sure everything is going smoothly and shifting properly, you’ll typically need to come into the office every 12 weeks or so.

Treatment Time

Treatment with clear aligners, on average, can take 12 to 18 months on average, which is similar to traditional braces’ treatment time.

Low Maintenance

It’s very easy to care for your aligners, so long as you make sure to incorporate a few steps into your daily routine to get the best results.

You should always brush your teeth after eating to ensure no food gets stuck or stains your aligners. You should also try to brush your aligner every day with dish soap and lukewarm water.

No Food Restrictions

Unlike braces, you have no food restrictions with clear aligners. You can eat popcorn, gum, chips, and any other food that you are often told to avoid when undergoing orthodontic treatment. Since our aligning trays are removable, you can eat whatever you want!

Invisible

Clear aligners are nearly invisible, so most people won’t even be able to tell that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment.

Practical

Clear aligners require minimal time commitments from patients. As you’ll only have to visit the orthodontist once every twelve weeks for a short check-up.

Improved Oral Hygiene

With McClaran clear aligners, your oral hygiene routine doesn’t have to change! You won’t have to worry about food stuck in brackets or special floss to reach under a wire.

Since you can take your retainers out, you can brush and floss your teeth just as you do now without skipping a beat.

Along with being able to eat whatever they want, your teen can enjoy the added benefit of having an orthodontic treatment that’s virtually invisible. No one besides the wearer will be aware that they’re in place, and the aligners can be easily removed for pictures or special events.

With clear aligners, your teen won’t even have to change their oral hygiene routine. When they’re ready to brush and floss their teeth, all they have to do is remove the trays, clean their teeth, and then pop the aligners back in!

The flexibility of clear aligners allow your teen to do all of the things they love without worrying about noticeable appliances or breaking a bracket. They can even wear their aligners while playing their favorite sports, as these clear aligners can act as a sort of mouthguard.

About Invisalign First

In 2018, Invisalign released a clear aligner system designed for patients ages 7 – 10 years old called Invisalign First or Invisalign First Phase.

Dr. McClaran can use Invisalign clear aligners to create predictable results and positive experience for your child while addressing their unique needs.

Invisalign First at our Nolensville office can help treat:

  • Aesthetic alignment
  • A bad bite
  • Arch development
  • Crowding
  • Preserving space for unerupted permanent teeth

While the mouth is still forming, it can be easier to make these shifts and adjustments that have a lasting impact.

How Is Invisalign First Different Than Invisalign for Adults?

One of the biggest concerns parents have when considering Invisalign First for their kids is that they won’t wear the aligners.

However, if your child will wear them consistently, clear aligners can work even better on children than adults. Children are typically more adaptable to change, and many get used to the feeling of the aligners more quickly than older patients.

Invisalign is so comfortable that many times children will forget they’re wearing them. For maximum efficiency, we suggest your child wears their aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours per day.

The Benefits of Invisalign for Children

Invisalign has quickly become a patient favorite because it allows patients freedom and flexibility. Clear aligners only have to be worn 20 to 22 hours per day, which allows your child a few hours of freedom each day to eat whatever they want or play they favorite sport.

The aligners are also easily removable, so your child can enjoy all of their favorite treats without worrying about breaking a bracket or pulling a wire loose.

The lack of brackets and wires also eliminates the possibility of having to come in for an emergency appointment because of poking wires or damaged brackets. We know that children can play hard, so one less item they have to worry about breaking is good for them and you.

One of the best parts about Invisalign First for kids is that it simplifies their oral healthcare routine. They don’t have to maneuver around any metal to keep their smile nice and clean.

It can be a challenge for children to keep their mouth as clean as it needs to be when they have an appliance in the way. Food particles can hide behind brackets and lead to unwanted results such as tooth decay.

Your child can easily remove the clear aligners so they can brush and floss as they normally would.

How Should My Child Care for Their
Invisalign Aligners?

Caring for aligners is so simple that your child can do it all by themselves! Just have them brush their teeth as they normally would and then brush their aligners before replacing them in their mouths.

To do this, all they need to do is take their toothbrush and warm water to clean out any bacteria before they put them back on their clean teeth.

Can My Child Still Participate in Sports?

Yes! Your child can enjoy all the sports they love while in Invisalign. The aligner itself acts as a kind of mouthguard, but if your kid decides they’d rather play without their Invisalign, they can easily remove it.

If they do decide to play without their aligners, it’s important they remember to replace them as soon as their game or practice is finished so no unwanted shifting occurs.
